The story

Growing up, Ofelia was always reminded of just how different she was. It wasn’t her fault that her eyes were different colors, that she had a slightly green tint to her skin, or that her head was too big for her body.
She learned, at an early age, to isolate herself and rely on art as her friend and companion.

Life was as good as it could get for Ofelia, but that all changed. When children started disappearing in her village, everyone automatically assumed it was her. People claimed they had seen little kids running around her home. Little did they know that they were paper people she had created so that she wouldn’t be so lonely.

Day 30 – Favorite Moment in April – #AprilArtChallenge

My favorite moment in April was definitely creating so many light boxes out of paper. Prior to this monthly challenge, I was creating a light box a month. I did not think I would be able to create six light boxes that were so detailed in one month, but I did it, and I couldn’t be happier with the end result.

To represent my favorite moment, I created little paper people that would be the witch’s friends, along with a few more props, like scissors, a craft knife and a piece of paper with a paper person cut out.

Day 27 – Wounded – #AprilArtChallenge

For this challenge, I wanted to have the wounded people be outside the window. The wounded would be victims of the voodoo witch’s wrath.

I knew these characters would be super tiny, so that would be somewhat of a challenge. I wanted each one of them to be connected to one of the elements. So I made someone who was drowning, someone who was falling off a tree, someone who was burning in their house, and someone else who was blowing in the wind.
