This prompt was perhaps the simplest to create. I wanted the main character, in the arachnophobia light box, to grow spider legs after having had some special cupcakes.

This prompt was perhaps the simplest to create. I wanted the main character, in the arachnophobia light box, to grow spider legs after having had some special cupcakes.
For this challenge, I wanted to have the wounded people be outside the window. The wounded would be victims of the voodoo witch’s wrath.
I knew these characters would be super tiny, so that would be somewhat of a challenge. I wanted each one of them to be connected to one of the elements. So I made someone who was drowning, someone who was falling off a tree, someone who was burning in their house, and someone else who was blowing in the wind.
Right from the start, I wanted to create a tall and lean man coming out of the building. So I began by sketching him out. I didn’t originally intend for the windows on the right building to be covered, but I realized I wasn’t going to achieve the look I wanted if I didn’t cover them.
My original intent was to have one of the characters from the video game be coming out of the TV screen, but the 80’s video game zombies looked too cheesy for the look I was going for (refer to picture below). Therefore, I decided to remove that screen and have a blank screen with a black figure trying to get out of the TV – and part of it actually succeeding.
When I started working on this prompt, I thought it was going to be a lot easier. The first thing I realized was that I had not left any open surface area on the building wall, on the left, to include the quote. So I had to improvise. I decided to draw around the octopus.

I had to look up the word menagerie to see what it meant, before even deciding what light box this would be a part of. Once I knew the meaning of the word, I knew it would fit perfectly with the arachnophobia light box.

The prompt for today was pretty straightforward and easy to do. My initial intention was to create a chaotic scene outside with the whole town burning, while being flooded and having high speed winds. However, once I began working on it, it morphed into a somewhat pleasant town with a slight bit of chaos.

This prompt was extremely time consuming. Nonetheless, I expected that to be the case, since it was meant to be the setting for one of the six light boxes I am creating for the April Art Challenge.

This prompt was extremely easy and fast to create. I wanted there to be a craft service table with lots of baked goods.
