Poor little Diego. Being the smallest boy in Middle School was tough enough, especially when since he was kind of a jerk. But being the new kid made matters even worse. Nonetheless, he was determined to fit in. It was his right after all.
When the popular boys invited him to join their group, he said yes instantly, without really paying attention to what he had to do to join them.
Right from the start, I wanted to create a tall and lean man coming out of the building. So I began by sketching him out. I didn’t originally intend for the windows on the right building to be covered, but I realized I wasn’t going to achieve the look I wanted if I didn’t cover them.
When I started working on this prompt, I thought it was going to be a lot easier. The first thing I realized was that I had not left any open surface area on the building wall, on the left, to include the quote. So I had to improvise. I decided to draw around the octopus.
I decided to make a little boy doing something bad that would cause a superstitious event to occur. He would be painting (or attempting to paint) on an art wall in order to look cool. However, as superstition has it, anyone who paints over those walls, will feel the wrath of the artist who made the original street art.
This prompt was such a fun one to work on. I love the way it came out, for the most part. However, there are a couple of changes that need to be made in order for it to look the way I want it to, but I’ll figure that out at a later time.
Today’s challenge was pretty simple and easy to complete. Mostly because the tentacles won’t be a huge part of the overall piece – the actual sewer hole is about the size of a quarter.
I wanted to try something a little bit different and have the tentacles coming up and out of a sewer hole. I am so happy with the look I achieved. I know it will look great in the finished light box.
