Day 25 – Undead – #AprilArtChallenge

April 25, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

My original intent was to have one of the characters from the video game be coming out of the TV screen, but the 80’s video game zombies looked too cheesy for the look I was going for (refer to picture below). Therefore, I decided to remove that screen and have a blank screen with a black figure trying to get out of the TV – and part of it actually succeeding.

Day 24 – Quote – #AprilArtChallenge

April 25, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

When I started working on this prompt, I thought it was going to be a lot easier. The first thing I realized was that I had not left any open surface area on the building wall, on the left, to include the quote. So I had to improvise. I decided to draw around the octopus.

Day 23 – Menagerie – #April Art Challenge

April 23, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

I had to look up the word menagerie to see what it meant, before even deciding what light box this would be a part of. Once I knew the meaning of the word, I knew it would fit perfectly with the arachnophobia light box.

Day 22 – Four Elements – #AprilArtChallenge

April 23, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

The prompt for today was pretty straightforward and easy to do. My initial intention was to create a chaotic scene outside with the whole town burning, while being flooded and having high speed winds. However, once I began working on it, it morphed into a somewhat pleasant town with a slight bit of chaos.

Day 21 – Voodoo – #AprilArtChallenge

April 22, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

This prompt was extremely time consuming. Nonetheless, I expected that to be the case, since it was meant to be the setting for one of the six light boxes I am creating for the April Art Challenge.

Day 20 – Baked – #AprilArtChallenge

April 21, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

This prompt was extremely easy and fast to create. I wanted there to be a craft service table with lots of baked goods.

Day 19 – One Eyed – #AprilArtChallenge

April 21, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

This little creature was pretty easy to create. I began by sketching her out. I wanted her to have a witchy look, but not to be exactly the most typical looking witch.

After I sketched her out, I then created her clothes, her arms, and the shape of her head.

Day 18 – Unusual Landscape – #AprilArtChallenge

April 21, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

This particular prompt was a bit more challenging than it should have been. I began with the idea of creating an upside down desert landscape that would be visible through the window; however, once I tried executing it, I did not like the look of it at all.

Day 17 – A Pair – #AprilArtChallenge

April 18, 2018May 23, 2018 | Cynthia De La Torre

I decided to make a pair of conjoined twins for today’s prompt. I wanted them to be young and sweet looking, but for there to be a macabre scene around them. (I still need to create the macabre elements.)
