As part of the April Art Challenge, I decided to blog every day about my little creations. These blogs will provide a bit more background info on the process and the idea behind them. They will be short, but hopefully insightful. 🙂
Day one’s prompt is “amphibian”. I decided to create two little toads out of paper. I wanted to give the pieces a more three dimensional look, so I created a lot of layers. I think the bigger toad was more successful.
I added color and details with some brush markers I have. In the past, I used to use colored pencils for details on my paper art creations, but I prefer the look of the markers. If not done well, the colored pencils can sometimes look messy, especially on smaller pieces.
I wanted the look of the toads to be a bit different. The smaller toad was meant to look a bit more realistic, while the bigger toad was intended to have more character and look a bit more cartoon-like.
I created a fun little video to go along with these toads.
For future posts, I will attempt to include more pictures of the process.
What is your favorite type of amphibian?
